<p>The specialist said that the fiber is not digestible and they are subject to fermentation by the bacterial microflora in the large intestine. They are at the origin of an increased excretion of bile acids. They also have a cholesterol-lowering effect, they slow the absorption of sugars and they improve insulin sensitivity. In addition, they lower blood pressure and promote weight loss by creating volume and lengthening the time to fill. Finally, they have anti-inflammatory properties that have particular interest to U.S. researchers.</p>
<p>Fifteen grams of fiber per day</p>
<p>They have assessed the dietary intake of members of their cohort using a questionnaire of 124 points to determine food consumption in volume and daily frequency over the last 12 months.</p>
